Anchored by our mission, WTS is driven by its vision. In February 2020, the Board of Directors approved a revised strategic plan to continue the trajectory established over the last few years, but with a renewed focus and new goals that honor our institutional values. As a worship-centered community, we hold fast to our commitment to form more leaders for the church.

DISCOVER DUBUQUE

We’re called the “Masterpiece on the Mississippi” for a reason – the river carved our landscape into a work of art. With over 59 miles of hiking trails, 16 breweries & wineries, 75 music & arts festivals, and over 200 nonprofits, Dubuque is no stereotypical midwestern city! Whether you’re looking for activities with family, your pet, solo, or with your partner, there’s always something for you to make Dubuque into your new home.

MISSION & VISION

Wartburg Seminary has been preparing leaders for ministry for over 165 years, but we’ve never prepared them the same way twice. We recognize each student’s call to be as unique as their story. Faculty and staff invest deeply in the lives of our students so they will each be formed to be faithful, compassionate, and wise ministry leaders.

The Wartburg Seminary culture builds on the Lutheran tradition exemplified in Wilhelm Loehe by being worship-centered, communal, diaconal, missional, and global committed both to the church’s confessions and to a living faith, and allowing for open questions. Wartburg’s reputation attracts top-quality students who can benefit from and contribute to this community and culture.
