The Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest (LSPS) is a program of Wartburg Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Located in the diverse environment of Austin, Texas, LSPS seeks to prepare pastors for ministry in the rapidly changing and pluralistic world that is the mission field of the emerging church of the 21st century. LSPS educates women and men for ordained ministry through TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministry). Through this program, students develop skills and sensitivity to serve the church in the midst of ambiguity, transition, and diversity. This Certificate is designed for clergy and laity who are new to rural ministry and/or want to strengthen their ministry in small town and rural churches. The Certificate program consists of twelve courses, combining foundational subjects such as Bible, theology, and church history with rural ministry and community development. Program requirements are completed through a combination of online and residency courses, allowing students the flexibility to work at their own pace taking one, two, or three courses at a time.
