Wartburg Theological Seminary offers degree programs that may be pursued residentially at our campus located in Dubuque, Iowa or through our Distance Education/Residential Program which combines online coursework and intensive on campus coursework to complete the first year of our degree programs from a distance over a two-year time frame.
Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
The Master of Divinity degree program is designed for students interested in preparing for ministry as an ordained pastor. Students seeking to serve in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America also should consider beginning the candidacy process with their synodical candidacy committee. Wartburg Theological Seminary is a worship-centered community of critical theological reflection where learning leads to mission and mission informs learning. Wartburg Seminary has a dedicated and excellent faculty and staff to prepare leaders for God’s mission in the world through the church.

The Master of Arts degree program is designed for students interested in theological study at the seminary level for personal growth, international students preparing for a teaching ministry, or students preparing for further graduate study.
