East Central Synod of Wisconsin

Attorney/Development Director
Representational status: Synod
Committee assignment: Executive

heykesNancy Heykes brings executive management experience with large non-profit enterprises including AAL and Goodwill as well as serving on boards and pro bono counsel for many other nonprofits. She also has experience as a fundraising consultant for capital campaigns.

Nancy was a graduate of the WTS faculty-supported lay school and is the spouse of a WTS graduate. She has served on Synod Council and the Endowment Committee. She attended the ELCA Attorneys Association Seminar and offered pro bono legal/facilitation support to the synod.

Nancy resides in Krakow, Wisconsin and attends St. John's of Morgan, Wisconsin. There she has been active in worship, music, drama, the junior high group, the capital campaign and the camping ministry board. She served as past director of a nonprofit multicultural center, was adjunct instructor for UW-Oshkosh College of Business Administration, and a recipient of the Local Unity in Diversity award and Rotary Community Service award. She has served eight years on the Wartburg Theological Seminary Board of Directors.

What has serving on the WTS Board of Directors meant to Nancy?
Serving on the Board has enabled me to further experience the WTS community (and thus better share in my husband's experience). It has connected me with so many other leaders (board, administration, faculty) who are concerned about the long term future of the church through their concern for the training of valued leaders. My skills and hope have been tested while working through difficult circumstances with other volunteers.
