Borrowing Library Material
To borrow material from Reu Memorial Library, Wartburg students, faculty and staff must present a current Wartburg ID card. UD students, faculty, and staff must present their UD ID card. Other patrons must present valid identification, complete a new borrower form and be added to our system the first time they check out material. Identification must be presented each time a patron checks out material.

Check-Out Periods and Limits
Students, staff and non-students have a checkout period of four weeks. Thesis students and faculty members have extended borrowing privileges on books. However, if another patron requests a book that is out on an extended loan, the book may be recalled. Non-Wartburg affiliated patrons are allowed a maximum of 10 items total.

Video checkout is for 72 hours and patrons are limited to two videos.

Library reserve material may be checked out for a two-hour period unless otherwise noted. Patrons are limited to two reserve items at any time. Reserve material may be checked out for over-night use, but must be returned within a half-hour after the library's next opening.

Reference books, curriculum center material, vertical file material, current periodicals and retrospective periodicals are available for in-library use only.

You are responsible for all items checked out to your library account.

Returning Items
Items should be returned to the circulation desk. There is also an after-hours book drop available in the hallway outside the library.

Please DO NOT RESHELVE books. If you are finished with an item return it to the circulation desk or leave it on one of the assigned tables.

Renewals
Books from the regular collection may be renewed three times if another patron is not waiting for the item. You may renew books by phone (563-589-0267), mail, e-mail, through the online catalog, or in person.

Library Fines
Reu Memorial Library does not charge overdue fines. We do however expect library patrons to be conscientious of the need to return materials on time. Since a majority of books are returned within a few days of their due date, overdue notices are not sent out until an item is a week past due. You may avoid overdue notices and save us time by keeping track of the due dates. Due dates are stamped on a slip inside the back cover of each item.

Items that are 3 weeks or more overdue are handled on an individual basis. Library privileges may be suspended until the material is returned, replaced or paid for. Patrons are charged replacement cost of the material plus a processing fee.

Recalls
If you should receive a recall notice for a book you have checked out, please be sure to bring it back by the date indicated on the notice. When you return the item please indicate to the circulation attendant that it is a recalled item.

Requests from the University of Dubuque
Library materials from the University of Dubuque Charles C. Myers Library may be requested using the online catalog. A daily shuttle delivers material between the two libraries in the early afternoon each weekday and may be picked up at the circulation desk. You will not receive notification that your materials have arrived.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are available to Wartburg students, faculty and staff for materials we do not own and which are not available at any other Dubuque area library. For students the materials must be for class assignments. Books and journal articles may be requested through WorldCat (FirstSearch), or may be emailed to library staff. Requests usually take one to two weeks to fill. You will receive an email when the item has arrived.

Copying & Printing
Copy machine and black/white printing is $.10 per page and color printing is $.75 per page payable at the circulation desk. You will need your 5-digit ID number as your code to use the copy machine. Payment for the printers is on the honor system. Students do not need to pay for printing of articles from library subscription online databases (e.g. EBSCOhost, ATLAS) and printing from our library online catalog.

Food & Beverages
No FOOD is allowed in the library. A table is provided at the library entrance on which you may leave your food container. Be sure to pick up the items when you leave.

Beverages in spill proof containers are allowed in the library. You may test your container in the cup on the table at the library entrance. Those containers that pass the "spill test" may be brought in. Please leave all others on the table provided at the library entrance. Be sure to pick up the items when you leave.

Fax
Students, faculty and staff may send and receive faxes in the library. You will be notified by phone or email if you have received a fax. Unclaimed faxes will be sent to the mailroom for distribution.

For help using the fax machine, please ask the library staff. To send a long distance fax, you will need your long distance code or a calling card. The library fax number is 563-589-0333

Study Carrels
Students are asked to remove all personal belongings from carrels when they leave the library. Library books and periodicals that are not checked out should be turned in at the circulation desk or placed on the marked carrels.

Carrels on the 2nd and 3rd floor may be reserved for individual use by frequent library users. For more details or to reserve a carrel, contact the Library. Library material must be checked out before being stored in a reserved carrel. Carrel assignments will be made on the understanding that a staff member will periodically search all carrels and remove library material that is not checked out. The library is not responsible for any item left in a carrel.

Children
Wartburg affiliated children (under 18 years old) may use the library and its resources only when accompanied by a Wartburg affiliated parent. The adult must stay with the child.
