Clinical Pastoral Education at Wartburg integrates supervised ministry, theological reflection, and professional formation in real-world care settings. Through accredited programs and clinical learning experiences, students develop pastoral identity, care competencies, and vocational clarity through structured practice and guided reflection.
Through ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education, students engage supervised ministry in real care settings while integrating theological reflection, professional formation, and lived practice. CPE offers in-person and online formats, with intensive and extended options that provide flexibility while maintaining rigorous formation standards.
Students complete clinical hours in settings such as congregations, hospitals, nursing homes, and other care environments under the supervision of on-site pastors or chaplains, with formation shaped through structured reflection and guided supervision.
The Clinical Program at Wartburg (CPW) offers a CPE-like formation experience for TEEM and Journey Together students, supporting vocational discernment and pastoral development.
Designed as an online clinical unit, CPW integrates supervised ministry, guided reflection, and intentional formation practices rooted in students’ lived ministry contexts.
Taught by ACPE-certified instructors, the program follows a flexible, semester-based model.
CPW supports clinical formation within students’ local contexts, fostering vocational development while maintaining strong theological and pastoral grounding.
Both CPE and CPW integrate supervised ministry, academic coursework, instructor guidance, and clinical practice within intentional formation models.
Learning is grounded in real ministry settings and shaped through structured reflection, supervision, and vocational discernment.
