Tuned for Praise

My soul cries out with a joyful shout…

Our Dobson Pipe Organ

Wartburg Theological Seminary

Music’s highest purpose is the praise of the Creator and the joyful proclamation of the Gospel. With the installation of the Dobson pipe organ in Loehe Chapel, Wartburg Theological Seminary affirms this calling, placing music at the heart of its worship-centered mission and communal life.

Worship Life

Supporting Song, Liturgy, & Proclamation

The primary role of the Dobson organ is to support the worship life of the seminary community.

Its tonal resources are designed to accompany sung liturgy, strengthen congregational hymn singing, and enrich the chapel’s corporate worship.

Thoughtfully regulated for the chapel’s acoustics, the instrument offers a sound that is full and expressive without overwhelming the space.

Its central placement near the narthex allows for even sound distribution and visual harmony with the chapel’s architecture, while also supporting solo organ literature.

Design & Construction

An Instrument of Visual & Tonal Integrity

Built by Lynn A. Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, Iowa, Opus 46 reflects the visual traditions of central European organs.

Its mechanical key and stop action preserve a direct, responsive connection between organist and instrument—supporting both precision and expressiveness in worship and performance.

The instrument is housed in a free-standing oak case and features two manuals, pedalboard, and entirely speaking pipes.
