The Master of Divinity Degree prepares you for pastoral ministry.

The Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree program at Wartburg Theological Seminary prepares leaders for Word and Sacrament ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and ordained ministry in many other denominations. Students in the MDiv program participate in a 165+ year tradition of outstanding theological education marked by spiritual formation, contextual learning, life-giving relationships, and academic excellence. With a committed faculty and a curricular emphasis in forming leaders for the changing church, Wartburg Seminary continues to produce dedicated and well equipped church leaders.

Where does this path take you?

Nearly 95% of WTS graduates serve as ordained pastors within 18 months of graduation. Beyond an initial congregational call, MDiv graduates can go on to serve in specialized roles (for example, chaplaincy or campus ministry). MDiv graduates who aren’t serving as pastors are typically pursuing further academic study at the doctoral level.
